How to clean those pesky couplers and tips!
Have you ever been frustrated by trying to clean all the
icing from your couplers and tips - well, here is a great solution for
you...
This months' tip originated from my years as a Mother and not as
a cake decorator because the best way to wash those couplers and tips
are with a baby bottle brush cleaner. These brushes which are typically
tapered with a small and large end are the perfect size for getting
into a coupler and cleaning the ridges and hard to reach places. They
can be found in most baby supply stores and some supermarkets and
are very inexpensive. In addition, if you don't want to clean your
tips and couplers in the sink, you can purchase for the dishwasher,
a sanitizing basket which is typically used to wash baby bottle nipples
and holders; instead, you can fill the basket with your couplers and
tips and place on the top rack of a dishwasher for easy cleaning!
So, here's to reusing those baby items for our cake decorating cleaning
needs!
Another cake decorating professional gave me an additional
way to clean those couplers and tips - simply place all the couplers
and tips into a cheesecloth and tie a knot at the end of it. Then, place
the cheesecloth on the top rack of your dishwasher for cleaning!
